Senior Pastor Search

Over the last few weeks the Search Committee:

· Completed Faith Church’s Senior Pastor Search Brochure. This is an eight-page color brochure intended for pastoral candidates to inform them about Faith Church and the Senior Pastor position. The Search Brochure is available from the church website at http://www.faithefc.com/search/profile.pdf. Hard copy versions will also be available for the congregation.

· Posted the Senior Pastor position on the EFC matching website and on selected university websites like Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Dallas Theological Seminary, Moody Bible Institute and others, and have begun to receive candidate names from them.

· With help from Craig Kutteroff, completed the Senior Pastor Search online Resources web page. It is available from the Church’s flash and non-flash home pages at this address:

This Faith Church online resource gives pastoral candidates access to the job description, application process, Church Profile (Search Brochure) and the search process, along with access to the web pages developed for the congregation.

· Has been working on Phase 2-Filtering. A detailed process has been defined; resume evaluation criteria is complete, and the one remaining filtering criteria is being developed. In addition, as of our meeting this past Sunday, we had received nearly 40 EFCA matches and resumes. Of the 40, we completed resume evaluations on 12 and found 3 to pursue further.

The Committee is thankful that God has brought us this far. We expect to receive many more resumes and are enthusiastic about being at this step in the process.

The Senior Pastor Search website is now available from Faith Church’s flash and non-flash home pages. It is the one place for you to find the most current information about the Search and what our progress is.

Also, a Pastor Candidate Resources website is in progress and will be accessed from a separate location on the Church’s home page. It will give prospective candidates immediate access to:

Over the last few months, Church staff and Search Committee members have developed the look and feel of the Pastor Search website and its content. The Committee sincerely thank Pastor Greg, Craig Kutteroff and Alan Allegra for their direct involvement and support.

The Committee met for the last three Sundays. Members take turns leading a short devotional with group prayer a key part of each meeting.

Over the last two weeks, we:

• Identified websites and the processes for posting the Senior Pastor position.
• Completed the Senior Pastor Profile.
• Completed the posting job description.
• Finalized ground rules on decision-making, confidentiality and unity.
• Finalized the overall recruiting process.

Please pray for us over the next two weeks as we:

• Complete the Church Profile. It is a brochure for candidates on Faith Church history, demographics and culture. An electronic version will also be available from the Church website.
• Develop evaluation criteria for multiple decision points in the recruiting and selection process.

The Committee is nearing completion of the first phase of its efforts.

The Church DNA focus group sessions are complete. Information provided by over 200 ministry leaders has been synthesized and will be presented to the congregation during this Sunday’s services on April 6. This information is part of the Faith Church profile which is being worked on and will be made available in a brochure so potential candidates can get an impression of what Faith Church is like.

Plans have been approved and work is in progress for a Senior Pastor Search webpage that will be part of the Church’s website. It will be a readily available place for the congregation to find current prayer requests and information about the Senior Pastor Search efforts.

The Senior Pastor Search Committee has been formed, announced to the congregation and has had four productive meetings. We have come together with a spirit of love and humility. We are currently working through Phase I-Preparation of the Pastor Search Process.

This first phase includes developing a package to send to prospective pastoral candidates that consists of:

• A Church Profile that covers the history, development, current make up and culture (DNA) of Faith Church.
• A Position Profile that summarizes the requirements and responsibilities of the Senior Pastor position at Faith Church.

It also includes:

• Developing multiple ways to communicate non-confidential information on the Search Committee's progress to the congregation.
• Continuing to refine our processes especially the last two phases - Search and Selection.

Please pray that committee members would maintain our relationships with God as our first priority and seek His direction in all our efforts.
