Faith Church’s culture or our DNA describes our fingerprint just as the shape of your ear distinguishes you from every other person on the planet. You are unique, and in your uniqueness you are given an ability to glorify God in a way that no one else can. God, in His creative genius, has also placed within each church unique characteristics. He calls Faith Church to use that “Spiritual DNA” to build His Kingdom.
The staff of the Eastern District has been working with several other Evangelical Free Churches, using a process God has blessed. In February, District Superintendent Steve Musser facilitated several focus groups that answered three specific questions about our gifts, opportunities, and dreams for Faith Church. The group participants were members who were leading any ministry, teaching adults, teens or children in the church, and those who became members before 1970. At Faith, this is a group of approximately 250 people. The meetings took approximately 75 minutes with the input from each group recorded by a member of the Search Committee.
On March 8, the Church Staff, Elders, and Search Committee met for the day to pray and work together to synthesize the input. Many in the congregation committed to praying at specific times during that day asking God to show us His unique calling for our church. On April 6th, Steve Musser preached at our worship service, and revealed the top 6 (underlined) of the 18 Faith Church Spiritual DNA components reflecting our culture:
